Established as a professional organization in 1950, Art Educators of Iowa soon began recognizing those of its members who stood out as exemplars in the field. Awards are given each year to selected members of the Iowa arts education community that have shown stellar dedication to the craft of teaching art to children. AEI & NAEA give awards every year to honor the best art teachers in the state of Iowa and at the regional and national level. Who may nominate?: AEI members can nominate other outstanding teachers and art partners. Not a member but, would like to nominate, ask me how! Students, parents or guardians, colleagues(*cannot teach visual art) supervisors and administrators, and school boards members can nominate an outstanding teacher in their community by using the People's Choice Nomination Form. Who is eligible?: Awardees must be members of AEI/NAEA at the time of accepting their award. (Exception: Distinguished Service Outside the Profession) The following are ineligible for nomination: NAEA Leadership, AEI Executive Board Members and AEI/NAEA Award Committee members. *Members of AEI Council cannot be advanced to NAEA level awards |
