Dear Art Educator,
Thank you for participating in the Youth Art Month Celebration, March 1, 2008 at the State Historical Building in Des Moines, Iowa. By taking the time to participate you are placing the importance of the visual arts of our children before the public, the voters, your legislators, your school board and your administrators.
We had 400 entries from 40 schools across the state. One hundred were selected to be shown at the State Historical Building. Twelve outstanding works were selected as part of the Governor's Show.
Our celebration directed attention to the value of art education, which develops critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, community awareness, and technical, communication and expressive skills.
Thank you for taking time to celebrate the artistic successes of our children at the 2008 Youth Art Month Celebration!
