Art Educators of Iowa       Mentorship Program Application              2007-2008

Apply to be a mentor.  If you are teaching visual arts in Iowa, and have at least 4 years of experience, or have retired from that profession AEI invites you to apply to be a mentor.  You will be helping someone new in the profession, and will be helping art education in Iowa.  To apply you need to:

1.    Be a member of Art Educators of Iowa.  If you are not already a member, you can use the form on the AEI web page, www.artedia.org

2.    Fill out and return the application below.

3.    Active mentors:  Agree to contact your mentee by e-mail or phone at least once a month and visit with them twice a school year.

4.    Observation mentors:  Visit your mentee to watch them teach, offer suggestions, etc.  Iowa Alliance for Arts Education will pay a stipend for each visit.

5.    Fill out a contact sheet to document each e-mail, phone call, or visit.  Turn this in at the end of the school year.

6.    OPTIONAL:  Agree to serve on panels and symposiums about your mentoring experience.
