Art Educators of Iowa       Mentorship Program Application              2007-2008

Apply for a mentor.  If you are teaching visual arts in Iowa, and this is your first year of teaching art,  AEI invites you to apply for a mentor.  This program is in addition to a district’s mentor program.  You will have an Iowa art teacher as mentor.  The AEI program will provide monthly contacts and for optional observation visits.  Those contacts and visits are shared only with you, not with anyone else in your district.  There are also scholarships available for you to attend the Art Educators of Iowa fall conference.  This is a chance to take workshops, build your professional network, and perhaps pick up a graduate credit. 

To apply you need to:

1.    Fill out and return the application below.

2.   Fill out a contact sheet to document each e-mail, phone call, or visit.  Turn this in at the end of the school year.

3.    OPTIONAL:  Agree to serve on panels and symposiums about your mentoring experience.

4.    OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED:  Become a member of Art Educators of Iowa.  Become a member when you register for the fall conference and some of it will be paid for with the scholarship.
