To nominate someone for an Art Educators of Iowa award, use these forms:

When Should I Nominate?

After filling out the forms, save and attach the nomination to an email to the Awards Chair Maggie Parks by June 15. The nominee should complete the vita and email it to the Awards Chair Maggie Parks by August 1.

How will I know if my Nominee is a winner?

Award winners will be notified and asked to provide information for press releases. Winners of Iowa awards may qualify for Regional and National honors from NAEA. Winners of AEI awards are submitted by the AEI Awards Chair for National awards by October 1.

How are Award Winners Honored?

Iowa award winners are honored at an event during the Fall Conference in October. If the winner is selected by NAEA, there is an awards ceremony at NAEA Convention in March of the following year.


Who is eligible for an award?
NAEA members who meet the established criteria. Membership is not required for the
Distinguished Service (Outside the Profession) award.


Established as a professional organization in 1950, Art Educators of Iowa soon began recognizing those of its members who stood out as examplars in the field.

Awards are given each year to selected members of the Iowa arts education community that have shown stellar dedication to the craft of teaching art to children.
