Personal Statement

I love my job!  As I enter my 20^th year of teaching, I can honestly say it just keeps getting better because kids and creativity are an amazing and inspiring combination! 

I believe art is a part of being human.  Art is infinite as well as a unique lifelong experience.  It surrounds our lives and infuses us with unlimited possibilities and potential.  Art is creativity personified.

Receiving this award has been a humbling and rewarding experience because it has caused me to reflect upon what has formed me as a teacher and a person.  I am so honored!  The Lord has blessed me with family, friends, teachers, colleagues, peers, and students who have taught me, believed in me, and inspired me.  They each own a small part of this award because they are a small part of me. 

We are all blessed to touch others’ lives as they touch ours.  If I had a nickel for every hug, smile, “AHA”, note, picture, and “I love Art” moment, I’d be a millionaire.  Since I don’t have those nickels, I am a millionaire in memories.  Who could ask for more than that?
